sweet baby jesus, LOOK:

Extinct, my ASS! from The Original Joe Fisher on Vimeo.

Oh how I wish I were one of those kids*. And/or the Museum of Natural History employee who came up with this. Also, can I get a collective paleontology-nerds ‘hells-yeah!’ for the feathers?  Thank you to dear-and-not-near-enough rickmonkey for sharing.

*with the exception of living under parental control again, puberty and basically the entire middle-school experience.

I do not think I have ever laughed so belly-achingly as I have while listening to this dramatic reading of a teenage breakup-email last night. A bottomless sea of gratitude to my dearling friend Angel for forwarding this to me. I would like to also take a moment to endorse the firefox internet browser and its built-in spell checking feature.

TURN UP YOUR SPEAKERS FOR THIS.

And, as there was no photo/artwork associated with this post, I will share with you my emosaurus drawing, though it is only somewhat relevant:

this is what inevitably happens when I am at my home, alone, for the first time in 2 weeks:

my just desserts

To the dearlings who kept checking this site while I was on vacation:

Truly I am earthen scum and undeserving of your visitorship. To make amends, feel free to hurl cream pies at my site, or, if you prefer, you could send dinosaurs to trample it:

volatile victuals

Instructables.com has details on how to make your very own erupting volcano cake. Clearly, this is a very good idea and nothing could possibly go wrong.

/Variations
Jurassic Boiling Tar Pit Cake: I bet I could use the volcano cake as a template to make a boiling tar pit of icing with dinosaur-cakes helplessly drowning in it. The biggest challenging could be finding the black food-dye for the tar.

Or maybe an Evolution Cake with edible fish-with-feet emerging from a bubbling primordial ooze-icing as the first land creatures.

Other ideas?

taxidermy treasures

Justine Cooper spent a year exploring and photographing the vast mothballed collections in storage (since the 19th century) at the Museum of Natural History. If you have any sort of appreciation for animal-heads-on-plaques or dinosaur remains or sealife in formaldehyded jars (as I do, of course) you simply must check out her work for the “Saved by Science” installation at the Daneyal Mahmood gallery:

Needless to say, these were very popular at my party last night…

to enjoy your very own edible dinosaurs, you need only purchase this silicone dino-mold.
