I basically am best friends with sir* patrick stewart

I have just discovered that there are only 2 degrees of separation between captain jean luc picard, the british-accented, french-named, american space-naval captain of the USS enterprise on star trek TNG (yes, I just used the acronym), and myself.

marlene: so my friend hangs out with patrick stewart
me: GET OUT OF TOWN
marlene: nope
me: LEAVE THE TOWN
marlene: he goes to [restauarant name removed, apologies to TMZ] and she is a manager.
me: GO TO ANOTHER TOWN
marlene: they hang out and shit, seriously
me: THIS TOWN IS NOT FOR YOU
marlene: Macbeth is at bam and bam is down the street
me: NO MARLENES HERE
marlene: so they are like bff
me: THERES A TOWN JUST A MILE A WAY WITH YOUR NAME ON IT
Marlene: for real
me: that’s so rad.

In honour of my best friend, I would like to share his appearance on rick gervais’ Extras which makes me giggle uncontrollably:

*has he even been knighted yet? it doesn’t really matter, he is a knight in my heart-monarchy.

  1. Jimerrific and I went to see Sir Pat in Macbeth, and even though we were sitting approximately 150 feet away from him, we made Meaningful Eye Contact while he was giving his “tomorrow and tomorrow” speech, so now I am pregnant with his child.

  2. As the über-nerd I am regarding Star Trek, there are few corrections I wish to discuss. At the time of The Enterprise’s commissioning (Star Date 40759.5, October 4, 2363) The United States, nor any country, was independent. Rather, our planet was governed and protected by Star Fleet under the UFP (United Federation of Planets). So the correct designation of The Enterprise was not as you so remissibly deemed USS Enterprise, rather it was the NCC-1701D Enterprise.

  5. “THIS TOWN IS NOT FOR YOU”

    LOVE it.

in other sir patrick news, ricky gervais is writing and directing a movie called this side of the truth and it stars wonderful people such as tina fey, jason bateman, and jeffrey tambor.

AND THE FILM WILL BE NARRATED BY PATRICK SMITH.

how is this not going to be the greatest thing ever made?

  7. edwina - a google image search for “patrick smith” yielded this: http://www.kickthefog.com/fcgpsmith.jpg who I would TOTALLY want to narrate my movie.
