… but it seems as though the sea slug (specifically the chromodoris toxic nudibranch) might be the new Cutest Most Wonderfulest Sea Creature of All Time, Ever.

I mean, really, what? are you kidding? it’s smiling for heavens-sakes. truly there is *almost* no competition.

Thank you to dearlingest lauren who shared this collection of amazing photographs of sea slugs courtesy of National Geographic.

  3. these are startlingly reminiscent of the “dessert sushi” that always gets made for library anime parties, except there should be fruit roll-up wrapped around everything.

  4. There’s a cool little video that goes along with the photo gallery where photographer David Doubilet explains his fascination with nudibranchs and tells how he photographed them. The video has tango music, which seems appropriate for these extravagant critters.

  6. In honor of today’s aquatic theme, I will share with you a college story my brother told me:

Josh’s roommate Alison was at a party at another school, where there was a girl who for some reason really wanted to impress her. “What’s your major?” the girl asked. “Bio,” said Alison. “OMG, I love bio!” the girl said. “What’s your concentration?” “Cephalopods.” “Oh, wow,” said the girl. “That’s my favorite kind of pod!”
